Inspired by the Ocean

I was in Halifax, NS last week, a city by the ocean. As I approached the city I suddenly smelled the ocean. The smell is a mix of salt water, fish and high humidity. So different than the smells of my home, which is far from the ocean.

Down by the waterfront I took in the rhythms of this maritime city. Looking out on the water, I could see a light house, commercial fishing boats, several frigates (Halifax is home base for the Canadian Navy on the East Coast), Coast Guard boats, several tour boats and even a passenger ferry. The ocean is part of every day life in Halifax.
