Longing for Spring

It’s mid February, and here in my city, as in many other Canadian cities, we are in the middle of a winter festival. Despite this my mind is already fast-forwarding to spring – the sights, the sounds and the smells. And of course, the freedom from heavy winter coats and boots!

These little birds by popnicute match up very well with my thoughts.

Although I can’t do anything to make the snow melt any faster, I can bring the spirit of spring closer by wearing clothes in lighter, brighter colours than the darker neutrals typical of winter and by choosing jewelry that evokes that wonderful season.

I can almost feel the light brush of wings as this butterfly flits by or the light tickle of its feet as it lands on my hand...

I'm ready to feel the soft velvety petals, smell the heady perfume and see the bright colours of the flowers that will emerge from their long winter sleep...

The bright green of this stone brings to mind leaves and fresh grass...

Speaking of leaves, can't you hear these swaying in the wind?

With these sweet little blooms adorning my ears, winter would seem like a distant memory.

Do you ever get the winter blues? If so, how do you fight them?

I do get the Winter blues and your lovely post has given me hope for Spring. I usually fight the blues doing crafty indoor things, planning my garden and planning a Summer vacation.

Still enjoying winter (fun watching the kids and dogs in the snow), but won't be complaining when spring comes!

These are lovely choices to represent Spring.

Spring arrived here early about three weeks ago, but is going to leave tomorrow as Winter isn't quite done yet!

Beautiful pieces! Kay's lovebird beads are adorable. The snow is starting to melt here and I can at least see my sidewalk, if not grass.
