When we are children, we often take our mother for granted. She is the person we go to when we want a hug, fall down and scrape our knee, need someone to entertain us or get scared during the night. We don’t think about what our mom might have been doing, we just know we need her at that moment. She is our source of comfort and reassurance.

As we get a little older and start to face all the challenges life can send our way, we begin to understand those things Mom did for us when we were growing up. We begin to see some of the sacrifices she made for us, understand the wisdom of the advice she gave us, and appreciate the patience she had with us. I think this is especially true when we have children of our own.

So true... for me, especially with the arrival of my own children - I then really became a Mumma Bear.
But I firmly believe that kids need more than one mum - their biological mum, yes - but also other females that they can turn to... for a chat, cuddles, a shoulder. It takes a tribe to raise a child.
So all Mums - bless you for being who you are :-)
